let's talk Excessive Hair

Everyone has hair all over the body, but in some people that hair growth is stronger than average. It can be genetically predetermined or caused by hormonal influences. Hair growth in places where you don't want it and excessive hair growth in places that normally hardly show hair can cause a lot of frustration. Then it is good to know that there are methods to get rid of those (excess) hairs for a long time. 

At Novo Aesthetics we use two types of laser light to permanently depilate the skin: the Alexandrite laser and the Nd:YAG laser. Thanks to advanced technology, we can also provide a combination treatment for optimal results. The Alexandrite laser is suitable for lighter skin tones, while the Nd:YAG laser can also be used on dark skin. 

The laser light is absorbed by the pigment in the hair and converted into heat. That heat destroys the hair follicle, preventing new hair from growing out. Because gray and light blond hairs contain little or no pigment, they cannot be removed with laser therapy. 

Only the hair that is in the growth phase at the time of treatment is treated. Hairs that have yet to be formed will also enter the growth phase at some point. Subsequent treatments are then

necessary to remove those permanently. It takes about 6 to 10 treatments for 80 percent hair reduction. Later you may still need a maintenance treatment to remove any newly formed hairs.
